It has a generously sized head shell and it has a more evenly balanced sound compared to the Ittok. The Ittok is known for having a "lively or energetic" upper mid range. They are a bit small and can limit cartridge choice except for the Ittok, which has a larger head shell. Re: Linn tonearms, something to consider is the head shell size of most of the Linn arms. Setting a new performance benchmark, The Linn Ekos SE tonearm features advanced materials carefully selected for their sound performance and low resonance properties to minimise interference, resonance and microphony, and extract more from your vinyl collection. Of course having all three at a high level is a good thing.

The old Linn viewpoint is that the table is the most important then the tonearm is next and the cartridge is last in importance. I would not put a 2K - 3K arm on a basic level table. We offer a variety of arms depending on your budget. The basic 9' arm is about 2. The guy who designed this is really on the ball. If your current tonearm is a Linn Ekos, Ittock, Akito, Basic, SMEV, Naim Arrow, Graham etc it is well worth upgrading to one of our own arms to improve performance very significantly. Here is another option for an non-Linn arm from Audio Origami Audio Origami PU7 ToneArm Audio Origami There are lots of reviews.
#Linn ekos 2 upgrade
Linn has their own upgrade parts as do other companies. To augment the effects of the platter mat add the platter gasket set. 93: Cartridge to a Linn LP12 and ekos 2 (8.35) Posted by ronnyx on, 11:56:38 (81.235.198.175) I look for a decent cart to an ekos 2 in the price max 800.
#Linn ekos 2 full
Mine is outfitted with the full Stack Audio Ultimate upgrade kit (my kit is the previous version, not the current version). cd318 mentioned that a lot depends on the spec level of your table, that is, what bearing does it have, what sub chassis, what arm board, is the plinth a corner braced version, what bottom plate, what top plate, what power supply, etc.

Lots of good info has been provided here.
